Art Zoo 2018
What’s better than a bouncy castle? How about a field of fifteen, massive inflatable playgrounds…in the rain?!
Welcome to Art Zoo, a super-colourful, animal-themed inflatable park which takes bouncy castles to a whole new level. Set against Singapore’s iconic Marina Bay skyline and designed by local artist Jackson Tan, Art Zoo was first launched in 2017 and was back again this year for the 2018 March school holidays. Somehow we missed it last year, so the kids were determined to get bouncing this time round, rain or shine.
As it turned out, the heavens opened about ten minutes after we arrived at the park. The girls were sorely disappointed that the huge Unicorn Rainbow slide was closed due to the rain, but they were allowed to splish-splash and slip-slide their way across the rest of this gorgeously imaginative landscape…and they certainly made the most of it. The relentless rain kept all but the most hard-core jumpers sheltering in the underbelly of the Giant Ladybird, so the girls more or less had the place to themselves.
The “zoo” includes over 26 animals (some real, some extinct, some imaginary!) whose names begin every letter of the alphabet. Alpacas, numbats, quaggas and yeti to name a few of the exotic species on show. Inflatable cactus seats are provided for parents to rest their weary legs. The girls had great fun finding all the animals and chasing each other around the ridiculously slippery inflatable arenas whilst I bounced haplessly from one animal to another, barely able to keep track of their whereabouts as I struggled to stay upright and capture some of the action on video without falling into puddles.
Despite the rain, the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves and have been begging to go back again. Here’s hoping Art Zoo becomes a regular fixture on the Singapore calendar!
